I grew up on the East coast loving horses and art. Following my passion for Dressage I became a successful trainer and competitor for 20+ years. Finally, ending up in the East Bay running my own business. Several years ago an illness forced me to reevaluate my life’s direction. After developing a facial neuralgia that makes it painful to be outside for extended periods of time I was unable to continue a full time career with horses. I have been a part time professional artist (EBHPortraits) for the past 6 years. In that time I have written and illustrated a children’s picture book (Angel and Evie – Catching a Unicorn) and produced over 100 commissioned pet portraits and original pieces of art. As an equine and animal artist I work hard to breathe life, emotion and personality into each painting or sketch. Using oil paints, pencil or water color pencil, I want to feel what that animal is feeling. The unifying element in my paintings is a strong understanding of color, a keen sense of light and hopefully that unique spark that captures each individual personality. I currently live in Rocklin California with my husband, daughter, 3 dogs, 3 chickens, 2 rats, and a lizard. I still ride and teach a couple people part time but I am now dedicating most of my time to writing, illustrating and portrait making.
