A Letter from the NCA Board about the Coronavirus
3/20/2020
To all NCA members,
It isn’t a surprise that the Coronavirus has affected all of us in many ways. Perhaps the uncertainty of our futures is the most difficult. Here’s a bit of what we know:
♦ The March 11th General Meeting was canceled due to Coronavirus concerns.
♦ The Sacramento Fine Arts Center temporarily closed on March 17th and will remain closed for the remainder of the month, also due to Coronavirus concerns.
♦ March 19th all of Sacramento County received an order to ‘shelter in place.’ Which means ‘stay home’. The order will extend to at least April 7th and most likely longer. Later in the day Governor Newsom made the same order statewide – with no ending date. The NCA Board will not be able to convene for the next regularly scheduled meeting on April 1st.
♦ Receiving for the NCA membership show ‘Artistic Journey’ was scheduled for April 3rd and 4th. That will not take place. What will happen with the show is unknown at this time. We are keeping an open mind as to how to address this issue.
♦ The April 8th General Meeting has been canceled.
♦ Unless we receive wonderful news that the Corona Virus threat has been eliminated the New Member Tea set for April 19th will be rescheduled.
♦ On-line submissions for ‘Bold Expressions’ continue without change.
You are encouraged to dig deep into your art supply stash and use this ‘at home’ time to develop new skills, try new media, catch up on your art related reading, check out the many art videos on U‑Tube, and make good use of on-line resources.
The Board is wishing every member and every member’s loved ones well. Be safe. Take care of each other because we are all in this together.
With caring and concern,
The NCA Board of Directors
My thanks to Carol Brewer (sp?) for her phone call of concern. We are hanging in up here in Nevada City. Fortunately we have a doctor living next door. Hope all of you will stay safe and be sure to wash your hands and only touch your face with a paint brush…Mary Grayeb, past Board President, NCA & SFAC
