Meet the Judge: David Sobon

Our judge is David Sobon is the founder, producer, and board chairman of the nonprofit, Wide Open Walls. He has served on the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission, juried numerous art competitions, and is passionate about collecting the work of local artists.

David thought Sacramento could benefit from art activation and increased community engagement. This led to David founding the Sacramento Mural Festival, which was produced in conjunction with the Friends of the Arts Commission in 2016. In 2017, with an even more ambitious vision, David formed Wide Open Walls.

David is a tireless advocate for the arts and for the city of Sacramento. He is a high-energy connector of people, and his enthusiasm and drive make things happen. David has no plans to slow down. He has found his passion – showcasing the diverse, innovative, and rapidly evolving cultural landscape of Sacramento, while also promoting the excitement and accessibility of street art both locally, nationally, and worldwide.
