For our March meeting we have artist Judy Knott. Judy is a self-taught artist who began taking lessons in 2008 while working full-time as a data analyst in the medical field.  Upon retiring she started studying in earnest and went on to receive her Master Artist certification from Sacramento Fine Arts Center in 2016.  She has shown her work at the Crocker Art Museum, Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, Museum of Northern California Arts and Art Expo Dallas.  She has built her resume by competing in, and winning many awards in both local, national and international art shows.  

Judy transitions easily between representational and abstract art although more recently has concentrated more on abstraction.  When painting these compositions, she often allows collage to lead the way and then begins the process of layering paint and hand-painted papers and fabrics.  She’s continued to explore and has begun using thread to combine both paper and canvas in her “abstract tapestries.”  Nisa H. recently said of her art “Her newer work has a playful energy that lovers of abstract art can appreciate.”
