Sue Ann Foster is our NCA Featured Artist for Febuary 2021.
Sue Anne was born in Topeka, Kansas, moved to Chicago after College working as an interior designer. She joined the Peace Corps and accepted an assignment in Uganda, E. Africa where she got a rich cultural education while teaching high school and junior college. Chicago and Uganda greatly expanded her world view from her conservative roots. Upon her return to the U.S. she trained as an art therapist in a clinical setting in Ohio and worked 5 years in that field. She earned an MA in Art from Sacramento State and a PH.D in Education then taught art as a sabbatical replacement at Chico State. 2005 – 2015 Sue taught future teachers at CSUS. She also developed and taught a class for 20 years at American River College for the general public called “Tapping Your Creative Potential” offering assignments to bridge a trust in the creative process anyone who was open to the venture. She finds ART has been a steady companion through different life chapters including breast cancer in 1993. This experience led to being part of a team of breast cancer survivors who climbed Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina. This effort was the subject of a PBS Documentary about Expedition Inspiration. She is the President of the Valley Sculpture Artists, and welcomes a wide range of artists who work in 3-D. They have had numerous shows in the greater Sacramento area and continue to.
Her mixed media sculpture "Holy Woman" is comprised of:

Eyes are small lightbulbs
