Please join us Wednesday, October 14, 7-9 pm for the NCA General Meeting where Helen Plenert, the judge of the 2026 Bold Expressions show, will share how she made her decisions for the show.
Helen creates works to uplift the viewer using local scenes that are sometimes overlooked in our everyday journeys.
Helen studied art locally at American River JC and CSUS Sacramento where she was taught by local artists Gary Pruner, John Kaneko, William Wiley, Mel Ramos, and was very influenced and highly motivated by the work of Gwen Amos, Wayne Thiebaud, Larry Weldon, and Gregory Kondos. She spent years living in San Francisco where she continued her studies.
Helen’s favorite mediums are Acrylics on canvas and Watercolor on paper. Sometimes she dives into clay just for the challenge.
Please bring in an appetizer and artwork for the “Artist of the Month” contest. The artworks will be voted on by the attendees and the winner will hang in the Sac Fine Arts center for one month. ALL WORK MUST BE READY TO HANG AND MUST HAVE INFO ATTACHED STATING ARTIST NAME, TITLE AND PRICE. Failure to provide this may result in your piece being disqualified.
Our Raffle Chair, Kathi Bristow, is collecting new or gently used art supplies for our monthly meeting raffle. Feel free to bring to the meeting or coordinate drop off.
