Sara Baldwin joined NCA in 2019 and joined the board to take on Newsletter duties.

Sara recently wrapped up her varied career in the private, non-profit, and government sectors in the Bay Area and Sacramento region, where she managed and participated in a variety of projects, many related to communications, in a variety of media.

Now on her own schedule for the first time since kindergarten, Sara is on the search for artistic outlets. Her foundation consists of the humble colored pencil drawings she did as a teenager, the small abstract clay sculptures she did in her 20s, the numerous photographs of places and people she’s captured over the years and greatly treasures, and a few art classes she took at American River College in the 2000s, along with a desire to learn and grow.

Looking back, Sara’s most valuable contribution during her career could humorously be described as ‘helping to bring projects from amorphousness to completion.’ What more suitable substance to work with than clay to continue this decades-long habit? In 2017 Sara found a happy home as a member of the ceramics studio at the Allied Ceramics Art Institute (ACAI) in Fair Oaks, and since then has been hand building objects in clay; so far she is experimenting with concepts. Through her acquaintance with Carol Brewer, ACAI gallery curator, in 2019 Sara joined the NCA board to serve as newsletter editor and further connect with artists and the local artistic community.
