” I subscribe to the words of Erik Fromm: ‘Creativity is the ability to see – or to be aware – and to respond.” Awareness is not only being sensitive to the physical world but also being sensitive to the spiritual world.”

Jan studied sumi-e brushwork, and she was inspired by the watercolor vignettes of Andrew Wyeth. She is know for her use of the vignette as well as her mastery in the use of white paper and negative space. This quality has become a trademark in her paintings, along with meaningful and free brushwork and a strong contrast of values.

Jan’s work has been displayed in many solo shows and she is represented in private and corporate collections internationally. She has received top awards in many international shows and has been awarded signature membership in the European Institute of Watercolours based in Brussels, Belgium.
