I am an artist in several media and have been exploring the creative process my whole life. I am currently working in acrylics and mixed media, mostly, but am always interested in exploring something new. For the last several years I have been teaching occasional art classes in Sacramento, the Bay Area and other places in Northern California. I draw on my experiences traveling here and abroad. I took classes here and there and got my BA from USC Sonoma in Expressive Arts, an interdisciplinary art program. I lived in San Francisco during that time and after, landing a job working for the Arts Commission. I taught classes, showed my work, ran poetry readings and helped with art shows… When the grant I was working under ran out, I decided what I wanted was more formal training, so I went to the California College of Arts and Crafts where I got my BFA and also did some post-graduate work. My main focus was on book arts which included, letterpress printing, papermaking, binding and printmaking. I later continued my papermaking back up at CSU Sonoma. The I took a break from formal art involvement (although continuing creative projects on the side) and went back to school for a MA in General Medieval Studies and a PhD in Comparative Literature. Now that I am retired from teaching I am enjoying giving more of my time to art. It feeds my soul!
This is going to be a fun year!
